The Engraving
One lotus rosette, laser-cut into the side of the glass where a thumb sits. The same mark the dinner set carries — which is what makes the two read as one range rather than two purchases.
Kansa Glass
Bronze does something to water that steel does not: it takes the chill slowly, sits heavy in the hand, and makes a sound when it meets the table that you notice the first week and miss afterwards. This is the piece of the range people end up using most, because it is the one that never leaves the counter.
Solid 78:22 kansa, cast right through and hand-finished to its final polish — no plating, no lacquer, no lining to wear away. Small variations in tone between glasses are normal and come from the hand-finishing. The rosette is laser-engraved into the metal at a consistent depth, so it will not wear off however often the glass is washed.
A glass of water is rarely poured for one. The pair is there because that is how these actually get used — two on a tray, two by the bed, two set out when someone comes over. The single is the right way to try kansa before committing to a set.
On the alloy
These glasses are made to the 78:22 kansa specification like everything else here. They have not themselves been through a lab. The elemental report on this site sampled a different melt — the one behind the children's set — and stretching that across the range would be exactly the kind of claim the rest of this site exists to avoid. Specification, then, not measurement. A report on this batch will appear when it is done.
Read the assay we do publish →Still being measured: capacity, height, weight each. Rather than print an estimate we leave the row out — message us and we will send the exact figures.
Water, milk and buttermilk are what a kansa tumbler is for. Sour and citrus drinks are not: nimbu pani, kokum, aam panna, anything with lemon, tamarind or vinegar in it will react with the copper in the alloy, the same way an acidic curry does in a bronze bowl. Use glass or steel for those. And with anything, pour and drink rather than leaving it standing — a drink left in it overnight has hours to react, which is the one thing bronze genuinely dislikes.
Because two is how these get used, and it is cheaper for us to pack and ship one parcel than two. The pair is ₹3,049 against ₹3,398 for two singles.
No. The kids set includes its own 120 ml tumbler, sized for a small hand and engraved with a giraffe. This is the adult glass, larger and carrying the lotus rosette. These are sold as adult drinkware.
It takes the temperature of what is in it and holds it a while, the way any solid metal does — so cold water stays cold longer than it would in plastic, and the glass itself gets cold to hold. It is not insulated and it is not a flask.
No, not these. The report on the kansa page came from a sample of a different melt, and copying its numbers across would mean telling you something we have not checked. The specification is shared; the measurement is not. We would rather the page be thinner and true. A report on this batch is coming and will be published in the same form as the first one — figures first, whatever they show.
